These are only some of the pets that became separated from their owners after Hurricane Katrina or Rita. Some were definitely rescued and either adopted out or "lost in the system,"some escaped and are believed to be roaming in their neighborhood, and others fate is uncertain.

If you believe that the pet you adopted or rescued might be a Katrina pet whose owner is missing it, please look through these images, and the images at various sites at the "More Pets" link above. There was much confusion in Katrina/Rita's aftermath and not all pets identified as as "owner surrender" when they were adopted out actually were. Some animals classified as "stray" were actually owned and had become separated from their guardian.

DESCRIPTION:
"My little girl is a white female maltese. Her nose is black, not fading black. She has a good bite, no extra teeth, and all adult teeth. Her snout is about medium length, not too long or short. Her body trunk is more on the long side then square. Her legs are medium in length, not short or long like some maltese.. She was 10 lbs, not spayed yet, and about three years old. She has no marks or scars that I know of. She has no moles. Her dewclaws were removed when she was a baby. Her hair has some wave in it, but straightens out when combed. She tends to have some tear and water staining on her face, mouth and paws. It is common for the maltese breed. Because she has a little wave to her hair, many people may call her a mixed poodle/maltese. Her nanny shaved her hair along her back and left the rest of her hair about medium in length about one week before I left for vacation on 08/26/05. Her hair has grown out by now or someone might have shaved her.

Please spread the word and have people come forth that have a Katrina or Rita pet. There are thousands of pets that have never got on Pet Finders or Pet Harber. Christmas is coming. We want our babies back. Please help us to have that special gift under our tree and give us joy to our already shattered lives. This will show good will to man at Christmas. Getting our babies back will help us to heal. PLEASE HEAR OUR CRIES.. Most of us don't know where our babies are and don't want our babies to be adopted. PLEASE HELP US BEFORE IT IS TO LATE and we loose more. GOD BLESS YOU ALL

Princess was last seen at the intersection of Mumphrey Rd. and E.Judge Perez in Chalmette in St Bernard Parish.She might also have been found Clara or Paris Rd.
