These are only some of the pets that became separated from their owners after Hurricane Katrina or Rita. Some were definitely rescued and either adopted out or "lost in the system,"some escaped and are believed to be roaming in their neighborhood, and others fate is uncertain.

If you believe that the pet you adopted or rescued might be a Katrina pet whose owner is missing it, please look through these images, and the images at various sites at the "More Pets" link above. There was much confusion in Katrina/Rita's aftermath and not all pets identified as as "owner surrender" when they were adopted out actually were. Some animals classified as "stray" were actually owned and had become separated from their guardian.

DESCRIPTION:
Roxie is chocolate brown, she is 12 years old and spayed, she has old age growths: one behind her nose, and one in her eyebrow. She also has a lump or growth on the underside of her chin, which is grey. She still has her dew claws. Roxie was wearing a choke chain collar when the owners last saw her. The collar had her rabies tag from St Bernard and id which read A Gaspard Chalmette LA 70043 504-277-4152.

The owners say, " We had stayed for the storm and left on the Friday after, we left our two chocolate labs with some one who later put them on dry ground being Judge Perez Dr. We have found our male and can not find our female. I have been checking any and every web site but there is not any females list at her age and we are having a hard time finding her. We would appreciate any help we can get."
